Numeracy-Term 2 In Numercay we learnt about Perimeter, Area and now Division.
For Perimeter we tried to figure out worded problems connected to Perimeter and figuring out the Perimeter of objects. When we started Perimeter I sought of felt uncomfortable because I haven't learnt about it in ages and I keep on getting mixed up with the Length and Width of an object. I feel quite confident learning abut Perimeter but I don't have much confident. Also the rule for Perimeter when you are adding up all the Lengths and Widths for an object, is: L+W+L+W=P.
During Area 5/6M firstly listed some language you could use while you learn Are which are long, longer, longest, short, shorter, shortest, wide, wider, widest, narrow, narrower, narrowest, hish, higher, highest, low, lower, lowest, thick, thicker, thickest, thin, thinner, thinnest, deep, deeper, deepest, shallow, shallower, shallowest.
When we started Area I felt confident because I understood Multiplication properly and because Multiplication is connceted to Are when you have to Multiply the Length and Width of an object. For Are we had to guess and object in our classroom that we think will measure 5cm, 6cm and 30cm for length. After that we had to name everything we know about a 1cm legnth and width of a square in one of our Numeracy book pages. After that we had to write down if our estimations were accurate or not and why. After we done all of that we had to draw Alphabet letters that exactly has 6cm. Also the rule while measuring Area with an object is LxW=A.
During Division this week we used arrays to help us work out Divsion. We tried getting away from groups of and we tried starting to use complicated ways to work out Division. Me and Lucy worked as partners finding out algorithims of Division including Remainders. What I really want to learn in Division is using Long Division while working out algorithms of Division. I feel very confident in learning about Division because I understand it alot and it's also connected to Multiplication. I hope I really do get to learn Long Division and understand it because that's my goal for Numercay this term and I've never been taught it.
